#5 Accomplished: Trip to Milwaukee

I’m a little late, but I still need to share our trip to Milwaukee. Instead of planning a romantic Valentine’s Day, Mike and I decided to take a trip to Milwaukee to explore the city and drink some beer (#5 on my list!)

We took the earliest Megabus to Milwaukee and got in around 6 AM. In hindsight, not the best idea. Instead of walking around and freezing our asses off, we walked to the Amtrak station that was close to the Megabus stop. Seeing as it was early, there were a lot of characters around, so we only stayed there for about an hour and walked to the nearest coffee shop, Stone Creek Coffee.IMG_0572

Little did we know that this coffee shop was going to be gorgeous inside with extremely nice employees.

Loved the coffee art!

It still wasn’t time for our brewery tour, so we stopped by the Milwaukee Public Market. I don’t have all the pictures, but here’s just a little sampling of all the spices one little area had.IMG_0579

Next stop, Lakefront Brewery! We were a little bit late, but just in time to meet them in the first room. If you ever go, I hope you get Katie as your tour guide. She was hilarious!IMG_0580 IMG_0581 IMG_0582 IMG_0583 IMG_0584 IMG_0585 IMG_0586

At the end we got to sample our choice of beer.IMG_0587 IMG_0588

Then we got to “cash in” our chips for a couple free drinks. IMG_0589

Outside of the brewery they had weird statues.IMG_0592 IMG_0593 IMG_0594

Then we were supposed to go to a cheese factory, but the cab driver took too long and we missed it. So instead we walked around the corner and ate at a nice restaurant. They even had nice little flowers.IMG_0595And look at that bloody mary!

After that I was pretty much pooped. We walked quite a bit in the cold and I got cranky. But we ended up at the amtrak station and waited for our bus to come. Lesson learned: rent a car and drive to Milwaukee or have more money so you can take cabs and go to more tours.
