Lives In: Madison, AL
Current Job: Student at University of Alabama
Ultimate Dreams: To get OUT of the south and move to my favorite city, CHICAGO. I dream of being a writer or event planner someday, or even running my own public relations firm. As long as I end up in Chicago, life is good.
What are you doing to attain your dream?
For starters, I am pursuing a college degree. Gotta start somewhere! I am doing a summer internship to gain some vital experience. I recently drove the 11 hour drive to Chicago to spend a day job shadowing at a PR firm to make some connections and learn from the pros.
What do you think you ultimately need to attain your dreams?
CONFIDENCE. Without self-confidence, you won’t make it very far. You have to be able to believe in yourself before others start believing in you. PASSION. Obviously! If you don’t enjoy what you do, then there will be no advancement. You will also be living a dull life. If there’s a will, there’s a way! PATIENCE. Dreams take time to attain. We all have to start somewhere before we get to the top. There will be mistakes and errors along the way. Pull through and use error as lessons learned. CURIOSITY. We always need to be willing to learn more. Knowledge has no capacity. The more you know, the further you’ll go.
Have you attained any dreams? If so, what were they and what did you do to attain them?
As a college student, I have short-term dreams and long-term dreams. The short-term dreams are dreams I want to attain while in college. The long-term dreams are those in which I will focus on after college. The “bigger” dreams. I have achieved some of my short-term goals. Becoming one of the leaders of an organization that works year-round to raise money for St. Jude’s is one of the dreams I set for myself when entering college two years ago. I have also become leaders to other groups and societies on campus. In order to attain these, I learned that I cannot fear rejection. The interview process is always an intimidating process, but rejection is bound to happen in life. We can’t allow the fear of rejection to prevent us from trying new things.
What’s your advice to other dreamers?
Never look back. When you have a dream, go for it and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t reach it. All dreams are attainable if you put your mind, soul, and heart to it! It’s never too late
