Lives In: Bloomington, Indiana
Current Job: Health Educator & Owner of The Journ3y Store
My ultimate dreams are to be a woman after God’s own heart, an amazing wife and mother, a devoted and passionate business owner and a motivational speaker. I love supporting others and celebrating women entrepreneurs. I will create several platforms to acknowledge and support women. I currently have a weekly feature on my blog, The Journ3y, that is dedicated to celebrating talented women who have started clothing lines, boutiques and other businesses. Each featured entrepreneur shares how they got started, what inspired them and offers advice to aspiring entrepreneurs.
When asked to dream without limits, I always picture owning a large building where I can rent space to other entrepreneurs. There will be rooms for events, conferences, dream sessions and more. The most exciting room in The Journ3y office building will be a large room with dry erase walls so that dreamers can dream out loud and create the life they want to live.
We have to breathe life into our dreams by writing them down and reflecting on them daily.
What are you doing to attain your dream?
To attain my dreams, I am building valuable relationships and partnerships, developing my brand, and seeking personal growth in many areas. One of the areas that I am really working is being consistent and prioritizing my goals. Something else that I do quite often is seeking advice from people who are where I want to be. I am always thinking of what’s next and how to expand my brand!
What do you think you ultimately need to attain your dreams?
With God ALL things are possible! Putting my faith into action will help me attain my dreams.
Have you attained any dreams? If so, what were they and what did you do to attain them?
Creating a platform to encourage and inspire others through my blog is a dream come true. My blog encompasses everything that I am passionate about such as serving the community, hosting positive events, speaking life and inspiration and promoting Black business through weekly features. These are the 4 goals of The Journ3y. The blog continues to grow and expand.
On Monday April 22, I launched The Journ3y Store. I have dreamed of having a t-shirt line since I started the blog! The goal of the line is to empower and encourage women to love themselves. The line is called SHE, and the first design is called Love SHE. I have collaborated with several women entrepreneurs to feature their items in the online store as well. They each created an accessory exclusively for The Journ3y. Read more about each of the women here.
What’s your advice to other dreamers?
First and foremost, believe in your dreams and surround yourself with people that believe in your dreams as well. A positive mental attitude is a large part of what it will take to be successful.I also suggest creating a vision board that you can look at every day. The idea for my T-shirt line was a part of my vision board in January 2012. My dream became my reality, because I envisioned my success and worked hard for it.
Believe in the infinite possibilities that are present all around us. We have to grow and cultivate our dreams. It may not always be easy so on rough days make a list of your accomplishments and reflect on your journ3y to this point. You have everything that you need to accomplish your dreams.
I started 2013 off with the goal to take a leap of faith every day, so I encourage you to do the same!
Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my dreams. My motto for life and business is, “Together we are better.” Together we can do far more than we can do by ourselves. In that light, let’s encourage each other to dream without limits!
